EAU has concluded agreements with the ESI Business School, Ikeja, Lagos State, Nigeria, and the Community Bible College and Seminary, Kaneshie, Accra, Ghana. The agreement extends recognition to awards of these bodies for degree credit at EAU.

On20 August, the first Convocation took place at the University of Ghana,City Campus Bediaku Teachers' Hall in Accra. The second Convocationtook place at the Confederation Nationale des Travailleurs De Togo Lomein Togo on 12 November.

Before capacityaudiences, graduates received their degrees and celebrated theirachievements. Recipients of honorary degrees included members of Royaland chiefly houses, leading figures in government and seniorbusinesspeople. Chair of proceedings at both Convocations was ProfessorWilliams A.O. Egbuta, EAU Head of All-Africa Operations. Addresses byEAU's President were presented reviewing the achievements of the pastyear.

New master's program in Alternative Mental Health Services by distance learning

EAU has launched a new Master of Arts program in Alternative Mental Health Services via distance learning. The program focuses on approaching persons undergoing emotional distress and developmentally different persons through a humanistic paradigm outside of the biopsychiatric model. It currently consists of four modules and a thesis.

A. AUTISM AND DEVELOPMENTAL DIFFERENCES
B. EASTERN MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES
C. CRITICAL PSYCHOLOGY
D. EXTREME STATES OF MIND
E. A Dissertation Topic

The goal of the program is to train professionals who will look towards integrative, holistic, and humane approaches towards reaching distressed and developmentally different persons. The program is not designed to meet any licensure requirements.

The program will be led by Dr. Dan L. Edmunds, who is well known as a lecturer and author in the field of alternative and drugless approaches to mental health issues. Other faculty assigned to the program include Victor J. Manocchio, LCSW, and Maya Winddancer Noble, LAc, who are both experienced practitioners in this area.

Graduates of the program will be eligible to pursue board certification with the American Alternative Medical Association, which accredits EAU. The AAMA is a private, non-governmental accrediting association specializing in alternative medicine.

This work attempts to provide a compact and accessible scholarly re-evaluation of the life and work of Joseph-René Vilatte (Mar Timotheos), a towering figure in the Free Catholic movement.

The present work attempts to provide a general biographical study of Vilatte and then to discuss some particular aspects of his succession, including the posthumous attacks on him. It offers answers to the reader who is perhaps curious as to why an intelligent and well-intentioned clergyman whose work brought comfort and hope to several hundred folk at the least has been so extensively vilified by those he once worked alongside.

Vilatte was a pioneer in the work of church-planting for immigrant and other settler communities in the United States and beyond, seeing in his adherence to the Old Catholic faith a means of ministering to those who found the Protestant nature of the available alternatives unpalatable and the Roman Catholic Church unwilling to see their community worship in a manner indigenous to its traditions (particularly through the use of its native language). Like the missionary bishops of the early church, he established parishes for the communities he served, setting up church buildings and providing valid sacraments through the priests he ordained and appointed. Those parishes, as might be expected, waxed and waned in the complex and often hostile conditions of the time; not least among the hostile parties were the Anglicans and Roman Catholics. But nevertheless, some survived to develop into church movements that survive and thrive to this day, and in the case of the African Orthodox Church, that played a key role in the development of religion among America’s black communities.

EAU concludes agreement with the International Christian University

EAU has concluded an agreement with the International Christian University, Lagos, Nigeria. The University is registered with the Federal Government of Nigeria and is an Evangelical and Pentecostal interdenominational institution of education. Degree programs are offered to the doctoral level in religious areas and the University is collaborating with EAU in introducing programs in management. Full reciprocal recognition is extended between degrees issued by ICU and EAU.

The EAU All-Africa Convocation 2011 will take place on 20 August at the University of Ghana, City Campus Bediaku Teachers' Hall, Accra, Ghana. This promises to be a memorable occasion and will be our second convocation held in Ghana.

The President of Ghana, Professor Evans Atta Mills, has delegated his Honorable Minister for Education to attend the Convocation and deliver an address.

National honours for EAU graduates

Two graduates of EAU have been honoured in the Birthday Honours List 2011 of the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong, the Head of State of Malaysia.

Datuk Mohd Hussin Abd Hamid, who graduated with a Doctor of Business Administration degree from EAU in 2009, has received the Panglima Setia Mahkota (PSM) with the title Tan Sri.

Abdul Shariff Hamid JMN, who is an Honorary Professor of EAU and who graduated with the degree of Doctor of Business Administration from EAU in April, has received the Panglima Jasa Negara (PJN) with the title Datuk.

All graduates of EAU appear on the online Register of Graduates which can be found here or by following the link on the front page of the University website. The Register is updated within 24 hours of a decision to issue a degree. Non-inclusion on the list means the person in question is NOT an EAU graduate.

All degree documents are issued by EAU itself under seal
Although other institutions may issue their own awards, those awards are not the same as those conferred by EAU and cannot substitute for them. No third party is authorized to prepare any document using the EAU name or to use the EAU name on its own award certificates. EAU never permits its seal or logo to be used on award documentation issued by third parties, nor does it formally endorse any third party award, with the exception of recognizing awards for academic transfer purposes.

The EAU degree certificate
The EAU degree certificate (known in some countries as a diploma or testamur) is the document that certifies the award of a degree. EAU degree certificates of the type used since January 2010 carry a number of features to prevent unauthorized duplication and misuse.

The current style of degree certificate is similar to that shown above. Note the following:

- all certificates have a raised blind seal in the bottom left corner
- the certificate design incorporates guilloches (similar to those used on banknotes) and highly complex designs and backgrounds that will degrade if copied.
- the certificate design uses specific non-standard fonts and typefaces.
- the certificate is in full colour on gold parchment.

Launch of the Richard R. Slomon archive

The University announces the launch of its Richard R. Slomon archive, which is now available online at www.thedegree.org/slomonarchive.html

Richard Robert Slomon (1941-2010) was a leading libertarian anarchist writer who came to prominence in the 1970s. He led the Abolitionist Caucus, which was a radical anarchist movement within the Libertarian Party in the United States, and edited the journals Quest and Versus State. His former student Rodney S. Colver writes of him,

"He was a gruff, sometimes frustrated, but brilliant intellectual genius who often reminded me of Ayn Rand in that he would prefer to work alone than to compromise one iota of his ideas. It was those ideas that seemed to pour forth from him with abandon. I made sure to keep as many of his articles as possible, and in this compilation are over 90. I think I was always hoping to provide posterity with a glimpse of his intellect. He never received recognition during his life for his work, other than “Liberty Defined” (also listed as Libertarianism Defined”) which is one of the best, concise statements of the Objectivist (Randian) view of the proper role of government. I hope that his views will be sought out now that he is gone."

The Slomon Archive collects a series of letters, papers and journal publications that offer a detailed view of Slomon's most outwardly productive years between 1972-80. These materials will be invaluable for scholars seeking to understand one of the most original minds in the United States libertarian movement of the 1970s.

Campus in Medan
Information Technology & Business Campus (IT&B) in Medan, Indonesia, under leadership of Founder/Managing Director and EAU graduate Professor Agus Susanto Tan, is a major centre for internationally-based business-focussed professional education in Indonesia. With a modern, fully-equipped campus, IT&B is one of the five biggest international institutions in Northern Sumatra, serving over 1,000 enrolled students. It is accredited by the National Accreditation Board in Indonesia.

The Mara Educational Foundation, Malaysia
The Mara Educational Foundation (Yayasan Pelarajan Mara) is a humanitarian educational initiative under leadership of EAU graduates Dato' Haji Dr Rosli Mat Hassan PJN (Chairman) and Professor Shariff Hamid JMN (CEO). Originally established under government sponsorship, it co-operates with government agencies in Malaysia to provide scholarships and assist economically disadvantaged populations to pursue professional education goals. MARA manages its own network of colleges.

EAU and OXCELL celebrate graduations in London

Ceremonies have taken place for visiting doctoral graduates of the joint EAU - Oxford Centre for Leadership (OXCELL) program in Oxford and London. The graduates from Malaysia and Indonesia enjoyed a full program of events culminating in evening events in Oxford and afternoon tea (amid unusually fine weather) at the Royal Over-Seas League in London.

EAU doctoral graduate and Honorary Professor Abdul Shariff Hamid, JMN, CEO of the Mara Education Foundation, launched his new book "I:Witness" during the ceremony. The book, which traces Prof. Hamid's humanitarian vision and analysis of Malaysia's developing role for business leaders, will be published in the South-East Asia region by European-American University Press.

Professional Accreditation
The University has been awarded professional accreditation from the American Alternative Medical Association, Texas, USA, in respect of its programs in alternative medicine and natural therapies. Professional accreditation is a voluntary, non-governmental means of assessing and certifying institutional quality, and is dependent on compliance with the guidelines, regulations and rules of the AAMA. Graduates of EAU doctoral programs in these areas are eligible to become AAMA board-certified alternative medicine practitioners.

The University is also accredited by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners, Texas, USA, the sister association to the AAMA. The AADP was established in 1990 and is dedicated to promote an enhanced professional image and prestige among practitioners of traditional and non-traditional therapies and methodologies. Graduates of EAU programs below doctoral level in these areas are eligible to become AADP board-certified holistic health practitioners.

Set in Canada and India, the Coexistence provides a blueprint to live and let live, showing ideological clashes between the believers in the survival of the fittest and cooperation. This thought-provoking novel of unaffected clarity is from the pen that has produced The Flame, a soul-touching epical poem about maniac messiahs.

About two thousand and five hundred years ago, Buddha gave to humanity the stalwartness to live and let live. About five hundred years after Buddha, Jesus showered its glory on the mount of limitless compassion and forgiveness. He was crucified. This novel, The Coexistence, is based on the conviction that no organism is an island in itself and multiculturalism is going to grow, solidifying the global village. The best course is to recognize multiculturalism as a way of life. No one can eliminate prejudices. The best is to recognize them. The novel argues that the older models of assimilation and homogenization should give way to multiculturalism. International groups encourage this model because it promotes peace. This model is easier to adopt for the nations where liberal democracies exist, including India and Canada. The Coexistence is about world peace, focusing on live and let live.

Stephen Gill, author of this novel, is an expressive voice of Canada, India and Pakistan. He believes strongly in a democratically elected world government and peace through peaceful means. He has authored more than twenty books, including novels, literary criticism, and collections of poems, and has received recognitions. Stephen Gill was born in Sialkot, Pakistan, where he passed his early childhood and grew in India. After teaching in Ethiopia for three years, he migrated to England before settling in Canada. He studied at Meerut College (Agra University), University of Ottawa (Canada), and Oxford University (England).

International Center for Humane Psychiatry

The University has announced that the International Center for Humane Psychiatry under the leadership of Dr. Dan L. Edmunds, Ed.D., has been recognized as a Research Center of the University. Dr. Edmunds is well-known as a prolific commentator on issues of mental health and its treatment. He is an existential-humanist psychotherapist, social activist, and author. Dr. Edmunds's work is devoted to drug free, relational approaches to autism/developmental differences and those undergoing extreme states of mind (schizophrenia, schizoaffective, bipolar).

The Center has launched a new sixteen-week distance learning certificate program in Critical Psychology that examines a number of key issues central to Dr. Edmunds' work.

New programs; faculty appointment; external changes

The University has appointed Professor Walter H. Willies to its adjunct faculty. Professor Willies, an experienced poetry therapist, will lead the University's new Arts-Medicine programs that concentrate on the use of the arts in a therapeutic setting. These programs are available via distance learning at all levels from certificate to doctorate.

A Certificate program in Critical Psychology has also been launched.

In a restructuring of its external relations, the University has decided to end its relationship with the International Parliament for Safety and Peace as of 10 November 2010. The Parliament had chartered and accredited the University between 29 July 2008 and that date. The University President has also resigned from all positions within the Parliament.

EAU in Ghana

EAU's All-Africa Co-ordination is pleased to announce that it has acquired a campus in Ghana at Kaemebre, off Bawdjawse Road, Kasoa, Central Region. Lectures at the campus will commence in January 2011.

The Ghanaian Corporate Affairs Commission has registered the Ghanaian operation as European-American University College and has granted it a certificate to commence business.

Application has been made to the Ghana Universities Accreditation Board for accreditation and this process will be ongoing into 2011.

EAU is awarded a Royal Charter

As a mark of recognition and support for the University's educational programs in Ghana and throughout Africa, the University has been awarded a Royal Charter from HRH Nana Dr. Obeng Wiabo V, the Chief of Gomoa Nyanyano, and Oshihene (Chairman of Lands) of Gomoa Akempim Traditional Area, Ghana. Ghana's historic traditional monarchies are recognized under the Chieftaincy Act 1971.

The University values its links with HRH Nana Dr. Obeng Wiabo V, himself an educationalist and past honorand of the University, and expresses its sincere gratitude to him for this generous act of recognition.

Changes to affiliated campuses

The University has recently revised its list of current affiliated campuses with International Partner status to reflect those centers that have been approved for the delivery of EAU-validated programs for the 2010-11 academic year.

This revision takes into account the recent ending of the agreements between the University and the Manpower Development Center and Institute of Corporate Management, Lagos, which have not resulted in any graduates being presented for EAU awards in either case. The MDC has now closed its campus in Oyo State. Further agreements have been reviewed in the light of past performance and compliance with the University's standards and expectations. The University continues to pursue dialog with several centers with a view to potential future development and projects.

The University continues to seek to expand its network of affiliated campuses, and consequently invites contact from campuses that would be interested in preparing students for EAU-validated degree awards. Enquiries may be sent to the University via email by clicking here.

Another Anthology to be edited on Stephen Gill

Dr Stephen Gill is an Adjunct Professor of EAU.

Scholars who are interested in Dr. Stephen Gill’s works will be pleased to know that Anuradha Sharma is editing an anthology. The anthology is tentatively titled An Interpretation of the Mind and Art of Stephen Gill.

Anthology is scheduled to be released in Nov. 2010 by a professional publisher of India or abroad. All the contributors will receive a complimentary copy of the anthology. Last date of submission is 30th of September.

Research papers and articles which have not appeared in any other book are cordially invited. Manuscripts should be written in Ariel 12 font size, properly documented, free from typographical errors, and follow the latest MLA style sheet. Length of the paper maybe between 3000 to 5000 words.

Anuradha Sharma is an assistant professor of English at Navjivan Arts and Commerce College, Dahod in Gujarat and writes poetry in English and Hindi. The Global Training and Development Centre, Singapore, has been admitted as an EAU International Partner campus with authority to establish its own network of centres. The Centre will offer taught programs in a number of areas leading to the award of EAU degrees.

Professor Ahamefula Williams Okike Egbuta, Honorary Co-ordinator for West Africa, has been promoted to the position of Head of All-Africa Operations. This reflects the expansion and anticipated medium-term growth of EAU's operations within Africa.

Dr Joseph Mba has been appointed to the Robert Torrens Professorship of Strategic Management. Professor Mba heads the Strategic Business School, Lagos, Nigeria, one of the largest of EAU's affiliated campus centres.

It is now nearly 50 years since the Nobel prize-winning economist, Robert Mundell, popularly known as the father of the euro, launched on the world his concept of Optimum Currency Areas. It was to be 40 years before the eurozone came into being and, so far, more than 10 years on, it remains the only such currency bloc. Tuition fee change

However, this increase does not apply to students or graduates who have received an offer of a place on a validation route prior to 1 April, who will remain liable for the previous fee.

SUFISM, LITERATURE AND PEACE

*A text of the talk presented by Dr. Stephen Gill , an Adjunct Professor of EAU, at the international conference on Sufism and Peace held from March 14 to March 16 organized by Pakistan Academy of Letters in Islamabad, Pakistan.

Peace wombs the fetus of wisdom and the flowers of beauty. Peace is the path of prosperity and the breath of bliss. I congratulate Mr. Fakhar Zaman, head of Pakistan Academy of Letters, and members of his executive who have worked hard to organize this meaningful gathering of intellectuals to promote peace. I have brought a message from the land of peace to the land that should be proud because of its sufi poets and sages who have played expressive roles for creating peace to make the world a better place.

When I talk of peace, I mean the absence of war and fear for every individual to walk around with an independent conscious to accept or to reject any ideology or philosophy. This is my dream and this is what I write about in my poetry.

The cradle of my dream is mind, a field where battles are fought first. This field—I mean the mind—is unsullied by prejudices when a child comes into this world. This is the field which is to be taken care of if human needs a life without the engines of destruction and a conscious that is not a slave to prejudices and hatred.

I would like to share that I was born in Sialkot before the partition of India. My parents migrated to New Delhi from Sialkot, and from New Delhi I migrated to different nations in search for the flower of peace. I settled finally in Canada where I have been living for the last more than forty years as a poet and as a writer for peace. I am happy to breathe again the air of the country where I was born and where my parents were born and where the bones of my ancestors are buried. I am happy to breathe the air of the nation that has produced great poets of peace in the past and is still producing and I am sure that this nation will keep producing a good crop of poets, artists and sages even more in the future. This area where we have assembled has produced poets, such as Shah Hussain, Sultan Bahu and Shah Sharaf. On the top of these there is Bulleh Shah from 1680 to 1757, a humanist and a philosopher.

Bulleh Shah, a prominent poet and philosopher from this area, was against violence. I would like to quote lines that are the English rendering of one of his poems:

Tear down the mosques
and also temples
break down all that divides
but do not break the human heart
because
it is there
where God resides.

A few lines from another poem of Bulleh Shah:

Neither a Hindu Nor a Muslim
Sacrificing pride
Let us sit together
Neither a Shia Nor a Sunni
Let us walk the path
Of peace.

I fully agree with Bulleh Shah. I believe God is peace and where God resides there is peace and where there is peace, there is plenty, there is health, prosperity, love and harmony. A country that has no peace, does not have prosperity. In such a country, no one would like to invest money. For a lack of investment, there are no jobs. As a result, the citizens of such a country may use wrong means to find money to feed themselves and to feed their children.

Because of the absence of peace and security, the rich persons of that country will deposit their money either in the Swiss banks or invest somewhere else. Highly educated and skilled people of that country migrate to other nations. It is called the brain drain. There is the lack of tourists also. Tourism is an industry by itself. Many nations rely on tourism for foreign currency. Tourists will not like to go to those countries where there is no security. As a result, the countries which lack security will not get foreign exchange even from tourists. This worsens the situation.

Leaders of such a nation look for reasons to blame others. Minorities become their soft targets. This gives rise to a clash between the majority and the minorities. A country in which the minorities are not happy, even the majority is not happy. The majority is always on the alert. The minorities do not feel safe in their own land. They begin to shift their loyalties.

Because of the lack of securities and money, the government will borrow heavily from other nations to carry on its day to day work. This starts another cycle. No one will lend money to a person or a nation that is not stable. The nation is surrounded with problems and problems and more problems.

I was talking about Bulleh Shah. His poetry reflects a turbulent period in Punjab’s history. He blames those who are in power, including intellectuals, academicians and religious authorities for giving wrong information to citizens and do not let the citizens discover the love of God.

Bulleh Shah was refused by the religious leaders to be buried in the community graveyard because of his unorthodox views in his poetry. Today the same person is remembered and his grave is being looked after by the city of Qasur for his global respect and recognition. It was because of the harmony and love he talked about.

Pakistan has produced poets of peace even after the death of Bulleh Shah. They were jailed for their boldness for speaking the truth. They are also remembered.

Peace is the result of human unity, and the human unity has been the dream of poets, prophets, priests, sages and reformers from time immemorial. These days, human unity is the agenda of peace activists and politicians. There is already geographical unity that has been caused by the technology and science. There is also global economy due to international exchanges and communication. We are already in the area of global culture. This change has been caused fast without letting humans to adjust to this change. In many ways the world has become one, but in thinking human is still divided as the primitive tribes were.

It is admirable that writers have and are still playing a vital role in most nations. They have and are still trying to improve race relationships. Changes in many countries were caused by the muscles of the pen. Shakespeare was right when he said in the sixteenth century that the pen is mightier than the sword. So was Shelley in the romantic age of English literature. Shelley said that poets are unacknowledged legislators of the world. In olden days only a selected few had access to books, because the rulers knew the power of written words. The Bible was kept locked and chained. In India, the Vedas were within the reach of only a handful of people. This story has been repeated and is still being repeated in several civilizations in different shapes.

There is no doubt that writers have the ability to change habits and attitudes of the citizens. Leo Tolstoy, a novelist from Russia, was largely responsible for changing the social consciousness of Europe. In the United States of America, the Pentagon Papers concerning Vietnam War also changed largely the thinking of the citizens. Before this, the civil war in the USA for the emancipation of the slaves was partly due to the book titled Uncle Tom’s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe. This novels, written during the mid 19th and the early 20th centuries, reflects the condition of the slaves. The novelist herself says that she had written her book to show people what slavery was. The novel went a long way in changing the attitude of Americans towards slavery. The French revolutions were largely due to writers. Maxim Gorki is known today for his social realism. In the social and political fields, writers who reflect the spirit of their age are always remembered and read with unique respect.

Writers in Canada and also in Pakistan are active. They write for radio and TV. They are associated with newspapers and journals. They write novels, histories, poetry, plays and even speeches for the members of parliament and executive officers. Writers of today are associated with nearly every aspect of life.

Writers are in a better situation today to inform the world that harmony among racial and religious groups is essential to make the world better for citizens and for the children of citizens. Writers can inform the world that divided nations have fallen in the past and will fall even in the future, and the fruits of unity are sweet and manifold.

Therefore instead of wasting time at the alter of violence, hatred and pride, leaders should focus on improving the quality of life on earth. Writers can do it because they are involved in every aspect of life and are blessed with the gift of self-expression.

Sufi artists and thinkers are not politicians. They believe in the divine power that is peace. Sufis believe that for divine power all are equal. The sun of the Almighty, and rains as well as the air are free gifts from the Almighty for every individual. When Bulleh Shah says in a couplet “do not break the human heart”, he talks of multiculturalism.

Another Sufi poet from this area, Shaikh Fareed or Baba Fareed, is known for his love for everyone. He was against hypocrisy. He says every human heart is a pearl. He preaches not to break any heart. A substantial portion of his poetry has been incorporated into the Guru Granth Sahib, the religious book of the Sikhs. These and other sufi poets and thinkers focus on peace and tolerance as well as respect for all creations. Their literature teaches the wisdom to co-exist. Sufi literature is not to divide; it is for the love and tolerance that unify the diverse ethnic heritage.

This area of Pakistan where this gathering of peace-loving thinkers is being held, is known as Indus Valley. It was a flourishing area about three thousand years before Christ. It was flourishing largely because of mass migration for various reasons. This migration brought into the Indus Valley a significant diversity of human race and cultural traditions. Among the immigrants, included Aryans, Greeks, Mongols, Turks, Persians, Afghans and Arabs. The area became known for peace and respect for learned people.

The Indus Valley had a multicultural society as Pakistan has today in the form of different languages, ethnic groups, creeds and beliefs. My own country, Canada, has become multicultural in shape and through constitutional means. Canada has been declared multicultural by different governments. Tolerance is the base of this multiculturalism. Without tolerance there is no peace, and without peace there is no any kind of prosperity.

The world of today is a global village and this global village is of multicultural nature. To think of turning it into a village of one belief or ethnic group is impossible. Therefore humans have to learn to live side by side with the people of different cultures and creeds. This is the message of Sufis, and also the message of Canada where I live.

Citizens of this subcontinent are aware of the blood that was shed in 1947 in the name of religion. It was all due to the lack of tolerance. Lack of tolerance is a sword that divides families, citizens and nations. It divides the hearts of the people. It was this sword that divided India, and Pakistan came into existence. Again it was the same sword that divided Pakistan and Bangladesh came into existence. The same sword is flashing again in India, Pakistan and also in Bangladesh as well as in several other nations.

Intolerance leads to a fearful circle of revenge, opening doors for anarchy, making day-to-day life miserable. Intolerance also leads to unnecessary tensions which lay the foundation for insecurity and where there is no security there is no chance for prosperity and peace-- neither personal nor political. Intolerance leads to unnecessary tension and tension leads to unnecessary divisions in the communities and nations. Intolerance leads to unnecessary fear, and fear leads to insane actions. In extreme form, fear becomes terror. Suspicion and fear split people into opposite camps, each trying to collect more poison to annihilate the other. No one will know how to get rid of the thunders of fear and how to end the maddening race of intolerance.

Tension and fear play havoc with the economic life of the nation. Happy minorities contribute towards the building of the nation. If minorities feel secure, they will do everything to feel proud of their heritage. Absence of security and harmony leads to econo/political disaster that endangers the stability of the majority.

Protection of minorities is in the interest of the majority and the whole nation, even the world. This approach is for the prosperity and survival of everyone.

Sufi poets and thinkers look upon the entire humanity as one body. As the peace of the heart and mind depends on the peace of every part of the body, the peace of entire humanity depends on the peace of every community and group. Even if a part of the finger or tooth or eye is painful, the whole body becomes painful. The different parts of the body are like different communities, ethnic and cultural groups. They all are supposed to coexist in harmony and peace. This is the message of Sufis.

This is what Canada practices and teaches. Canada has the policy of multiculturalism that is based on the concept of tolerance or co-existence. Canadian politicians and architects of Canadian future and welfare came to this conclusion independently through their own wisdom that the only way to survive with dignity is to learn to live in a multicultural environment. Canadians came to this conclusion from the beginning of the formation of the nation. Consequently, Canada has become the choicest place to live largely because of her recognition of peaceful co-existence. This is the Canadian identity. In a country of around thirty two million people, there are about two hundred and fifty ethnic news media, and around one hundred and fifty languages spoken and understood.

This is the way of Canada, a multicultural society which permits free development of every culture, language and religion to work together to achieve a higher form of the principles of freedom and democracy. This is the blueprint that is the base of the Canadian strength, and I believe, this is the blueprint that shall be the strength of the rest of the world.

In order to improve the strength, more diversity boom is expected in Canada, according to a population growth report released in March 2010 by Statistics Canada. The report says that Canada will stop using the word minority soon because the minorities will become the majority. Canada is going to educate citizens more widely and vigorously to have open minds so that minorities may feel comfortable working with others who are different from the point of culture and religion. The report reveals that shortly Christians will be in minority and the number of non-Christians will be doubled and half of them will be Muslims. This diversity will give muscles to Canada to grow further and be more peaceful and be a much better nation.

Pakistan does not have to struggle to be multicultural nation. Pakistan is already blessed with diversity, and diversity is a strength. Diversity becomes a strength when tolerance is practiced. If Pakistan listen to these Sufi thinkers, Pakistan will become envy of the world. Instead of going abroad, other nationalities would like to come and settle here. All it needs is tolerance.

If the world wants to bring the global village together more closely, it will have to be on the principles of these Sufis, who believe in tolerance. I have no doubts that tolerance is the key to peace and the foundation of democracy. Tolerance for the faiths of others as well as for the cultures of others gives birth to a legitimate child of bliss. This is the message of this international gathering, and this is the message that I have brought from Canada.

The President of EAU, Professor John Kersey, served Ansted University in an honorary capacity as an advisor between 2002 and 2007. He received an honorary degree from the university in 2003. He has had no connexion with the University since 2007.

Convocation 2010: rescheduled date

EAU degrees now validated by the Universidad Empresarial de Costa Rica

All degree programs of the University have been reviewed and validated by the Universidad Empresarial de Costa Rica (UNEM) under a partnership agreement between the two institutions effective 3 March 2010.

The Universidad Empresarial de Costa Rica has been accredited by the Consejo Nacional de Enseñanza Superior Universitaria Privada (CONESUP) of the Ministry of Education, Costa Rica, since 5 November 1997, and is listed in the International Association of Universities International Handbook of Universities.

Graduates of an EAU program can go on to obtain a dual degree award from UNEM without further academic requirements, on payment of a validation fee.

Convocation 2010

EAU is pleased to announce that the 2010 Convocation will take place at the Mensah Saibah Hall, University of Ghana, Legon on 10th April, 2010 at 10.00am.

The cost implication for all graduating students who wish to attend the ceremony is as follows:

1. All Bachelor and Master Graduates pay N20,000.00 as graduation fees

2. PhD Graduates pay N40,000.00 as graduation fees. This entitles them to take the Graduation Gown to keep after the convocation.

Graduates are expected to make arrangements for their transportation to and from the convocation and for their accommodation. Should they need assistance in these areas they should contact Prof. Egbuta as early as possible.

The Invitation Cards to the convocation will soon be ready and will be sent to each of the graduating students who have indicated their intention to be present by the early weeks of March.

The Pro-Vice-President and EAU Ambassador, Dr. Mike Kearsley, will be representing EAU's senior officers at the convocation.

Revision committee proposals actioned; a new look for the EAU website

Now well into its third year of public operation, EAU has over the past months appointed a Revision Committee of senior staff to examine the efficiency of program delivery, the University's presentation to the outside world and the extent to which the University's functions, policies and activities continue to meet the expectations imposed upon them from 2007 onwards.

The Committee has recommended a number of changes to aspects of EAU's operations while preserving EAU's essential nature and structure. These changes are in many cases the reflection of EAU's considerable progress in fulfilling its mission and should hopefully pave the way for further expansion on similar lines in the future.

One major element of this review is that EAU's distance learning programs will in future be offered at graduate level only, with the exception of certain non-public theology programs which are offered to ordinands in affiliated religious denominations. We have found that interest in graduate study has far outweighed that in undergraduate programs, and our belief is also that the market for undergraduate provision is extremely well-served, whereas that for graduate degrees continues to offer a real opportunity for EAU to meet demand.

Other changes will generally be clear from a review of our new-look website, which we hope is clearer and easier to navigate. We have also taken advantage of our new look to showcase some photographs from our Convocation earlier this year in Nigeria.

Ending of agreement with the Strategic Business School

EAU remains open to the possibility of renewal for the coming year subject to certain conditions, but at the time of writing, no agreement has been reached between the parties concerned.

Mr Ndukwe received the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters on 1 July.

Mr Johnson Gabriel Ndukwe is the Managing Director/Chief Executive of Centage Savings & Loans Limited (Mortgage Bankers).

He is a graduate of Banking and Finance from Imo State University, and an Alumni of Lagos Business School (LBS).

He joined Intercontinental Bank Pic in 1990 and rose to the position of Banking Executive. He was the Head, Treasury Department of Kano Branch till 1998 when he was transferred to the head office, foreign exchange department as a Deputy Head of Foreign Exchange Department of the Bank.

He joined Platinum Bank Pic in 1999 as a Deputy Manager, Treasury & Financial Services Department of the Bank and later he moved to Eagle Bank Limited as a Senior Manager and Treasurer of the Bank in 2001. He resigned his appointment with the Bank in 2003 to be the pioneer Chairman/CEO of Gajons Beach Resort Limited in January 2004.

In January 2005, Mr. Johnson piloted a new team of technocrats who acquired 65 percent equity of Centage Savings & Loans Limited (Mortgage Bankers) and constituted a new Board and Management team of the Bank. From am initial negative shareholders fund in 2005, Mr. Johnson has within the shortest possible time, raised the Bank's Capital Base to about =N=3 billion in 2007. He remains till date, the MD/CEO of the Bank.

Mr Johnson in his career has attended many courses within Nigeria and Abroad which include: Basic Banking Operations, ANZ Grindlays Banking Course on Credit Administration, London, Bourse Game Treasury Management Course and the International Housing Seminar in Malaysia, 2007, Chief Executive and Directors' Programme, The Management School London & BEEC International held in Accra, Ghana, 2008, Putting the Pieces Together, E-Myth Worldwide Leadership Intensive, in January, 2008.

Mr. Johnson is a member of many professional associations which include but not limited to: Member, Institute of Investment Management and Research, Associate Member, Nigerian Institute of Management. Hon. Dare Emiola Francis was born on 22nd September 1971. He attended St. Michael's (RCM) Primary School Iwaro Oka Akoko in Ondo State, from 1976-1983. He attended St. Patrick College Oka Akoko where he completed his School Certificate Exam (WAEC) in 1988. He got admission into the Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, where he did his OND and HND, from 1988-1994. He has Primary School Leaving Certificate 1983, SSCE (WAEC) 1988, OND and HND Physics and Electronic Engineering from 1991-1994. NYSC Discharge Certificate 1995 and Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) 2008.

Asiwaju Hon. Dare Emiola Francis worked briefly as Physics Teacher at Command Day Secondary School Ojoo Lagos State after his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Jos Plateau State. In 1998 he joined the service of Best Option Oil Nig Ltd NNPC depot Ore Ondo State as Sales Reps. This position also took him to NNPC depot Ibadan as Co-ordinator, Supervisor and Senior Depot Reps. Hon Dare Emiola established his own Oil Marketing Company known as Emmie Nig. Ltd. He is presently Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ramosa International Limited.

DR. SIMON E. OKORO - A SERVANT OF HUMANITY
Born in September 23rd 1966, in Agba Village, Amata, Ozizza, Afikpo North LGA of Ebonyi State, Dr. Simon Okoro attended United African Methodist Church (UAMC Eleja School II) 17, Jebba St. Ebute Metta West and Eko Boys High School Idi-oro Mushin, both in Lagos, before enrolling with the National School of Salemanship, Manchester, England where he obtained the NSS-OND in Business English and HND in Modern Salesmanship.

Born and brought up in a family of printing professionals, Dr. Simon Okoro grew up to passionately love art and printing, so much so that by the time he came out of secondary school, he was already a fully-fledged printer in his own right, having voraciously learned everything he needed to know about the profession at his Uncle's press who was also his guardian then.

After his course in Salesmanship, he joined one of Nigeria's foremost printing organization, Unitad Primers (Nig.) Ltd, Sango-Otta, Ogun State as a print sales executive. He was promoted to the post of Marketing Manager within a year of joining the company, for exceptional performance of winning big Accounts for the company.

To increase his chances of success in his new position, he enrolled to study for the Alexander Hamilton Institute General Management Skills Development Programme, covering: Executive Personality, Marketing, Advertising and Sales Management, Characteristics of Modern Production, Budgetary Control, Business Communication, Personnel Management, Public Relations, the Use of Mathematics in Business, Accounting Principles, Economics, Principles of Management, Production Decision and Control, Transportation and Traffic Management, Management Information Systems and Computers, Cost Control, Business Organization and Corporate Finance.

For the first six years, he led the company into a service oriented and triumphant marketing programme that earned prime places of trust in the market for SICO Stationary products far above earlier and long standing brand names.

In 1996, Dr. Simon Okoro was called for a religious duty to serve the Bahai Faith as the Managing Director of the Bahai Publishing Trust, a religious body with its headquarters located in Haifa, Israel and accorded consultative status by the United Nations Office in New York.

While he was the MD of Bahai Publishing Trust, helped by his knowledge of printing and marketing, he succeeded in increasing the production of Bahai Literatures by over 300% forcing the unit cost Of Bahai books printed in Nigeria to come down to a point of winning sizable markets from many African countries in which Bahai centres are established.

In 2002, he started the publications of International Markets Monitor Magazine to serve as an authoritative voice of Africa's International markets. His indept analysis in the maiden edition of the magazine of the horrible road conditions in Alaba International Market profoundly evoked feelings of sympathy and solidarity from Tinubu's administration to the point of ordering instant tarring of all roads leading to and out of the market and provision of street lights and toilets, a duty the Ojo Local government had evaded for years despite the fact that the market remains their highest revenue earner, with all the existing banks each having 4 or more branches right there in the market.

Over the years, by virtue of his deep sense of humanity and altruism, combined with his uncommon wisdom, creativity, initiative, trust worthiness and organizational abilities, Dr. Simon Okoro or "SICO" as he is popularly called by all and sundry has been regularly invited by various United Nations Agencies, through the Baha'i international community in New York, to serve at their various committees to raise fund for Unicef programmes on immunization, child/maternal health care and child education. Similarly, Dr. Simon Okoro has been regularly invited by a number of universities to give lectures on Topical and Critical National Issues among which is the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts, University of Lagos where he was invited as one among Accomplished African Intellectuals in Town and in Gown at the height of the Metatsine Religious Riot in Kaduna to proffer a solution on how Nigeria can achieve Religious Tolerance and Peaceful Co-existence among her citizens.

His paper titled "Philosophic View of Religious Worship" drew unending and thunderous ovation from among the audience and the press who gathered at the National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos in sober reflection of the nation's ignominious descent in to the quagmire of religious fanatism, intolerance and wide spread Terror. The Bahai Elixir for World Peace as articulate in his paper was given wide coverage by the press in their respective electronic and print media throughout the 5 days duration of the conference.

A meticulous researcher and votive advocate of spiritual solution to mankind's protracted/age long economic and social problems, Dr. Simon Okoro has over 1000 rare collections of books on virtually any subject enabling him to feel well informed and at home on any subject or among any group or tribe and consolidating his view of the world as one big happy family.

OLAJIDE E. AWOSEDO: A SHORT PROFILE
Rev. Awosedo had his elementary school at St. Barnabas Primary School, Okun-Owa, Ijebu and his secondary school at Ijebu Divisional Multilateral School, Okun-Owa between 1965 to 1969 after which he proceeded to Molusi College, Ijebu-lgbo for his Higher School Certificate between 1971 and 1972. He holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc Hons) Degree in Economics from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awoiowo University), lle-lfe. He also holds two Honorary Doctorate Degrees in Christian Missions and Theology.

He is a retired banker and entrepreneur. He started his professional career at the Central Bank of Nigeria in 1977 after his graduation from the University of Ife, lle-lfe (now Obafemi Awolowo University). He then worked at NAL Merchant Bank Plc. where he cut his first teeth in the world of Corporate Finance. He eventually became the Head of Corporate Finance Department of the bank before he left in 1989 whan he was appointed the pioneer Deputy Managing Director of Citi Trust Merchant Bank Limited (which later became Union Merchant Bank Limited). He retired from banking in 1989 and has since been in private business.

Rev. Awosedo came into the Real Estate business in 2001 and by this entrance, a positive colour has been created for that sector. His company, Grant Properties Limited is the proud owner of Goshen Beach Estate, Lekki and this is the first of its kind done by a wholly-owned Nigerian company. Today, Grant Properties Limited has on its stable Goshen Beach Estate, Lekki, Victory Park Estate, Lekki, Havilah Villas in Isheri, Oguri State and The Beautiful Gate Estate, Lekki. His company, Grant Properties Limited is the first company anywhere in the world to be granted approval by the United States Government, to develop an estate for the Foreign Service Nationals of its Embassy in Lagos.

A well honoured man in his community; he holds the following chieftaincy titles from his communities in Ogun State: Otunba Fibigboye of Okun-Owa, Otunba Bobajolu of Odogbolu, Otunba Obateru of Iwopin, Ogun Waterside, Otunba Asoludero of Eyinwa, Ijebu, Otun Jagunmolu I of Ibido, Sagamu, Aremo Oluwu-lji of Odolowu, Okun-Owa, Otunba Adegbeye of Efire, Ogun Waterside and Otun Asiwaju Onigbagbo of Ijebuland.

At the university, Rev. This is an additional effort towards positive societal change, apart from my job at the Federal Ministry of Education.

The "Wife" is a body of married women with the aim of building excellent homes to transform our society. We intend to achieve this through the concerted effort of each wife in effectively fulfilling her role in her marriage, family and home and the re-orientation of family values. Wives are the nerve centre of the family and potent agents for societal change. Therefore their training and empowerment are of utmost importance.

The objectives of The "Wife" include: to equip wives to excel in their marriages and homes; to grow the love between husband and wife; to achieve a fun-filled marriage; to empower wives to achieve their God-given purposes in their primary relationships and to teach wives to take care of themselves spirit, soul and body.

With a view to achieving those objectives, The "Wife" in addition to holding regular meetings at Outlets to train as many wives as possible, organises specialised training/workshop on women issues and topics, provides free counselling services, writes books, sets up mini libraries at different locations of our Outlets, produces and publishes the magazine "Empowerment", regularly prays for families and marriages and broadcasts discussions in the electronic media to reach a large audience of women.

Mr Afolabi received the honorary degree of Doctor of Arts on 1 July.

Taiwo Olayinka Afolabi was born in Ondo to the family of Chief Samson Afolabi. His education was at Ansar ud Deen Primary School and Baptist Grammar School, Ibadan.

He began his working life with shipping outfit The Nigerian Express Agencies Ltd. (NEAL). His profile developed as a young manager in Shipping Operation and Ports Management and as a result he travelled abroad to study Shipping Management. On his return, he was promoted to Head of Operations. He has continued his studies since then with courses, seminars and workshops both at home and abroad.

In 1988, by now an experienced maritime logistician, he left NEAL and established his own company - Sifax Nigeria Ltd. Sifax is now a leader in ports, shipping and bonded terminal operation, and has offices in Tema Ghana, Durban South Africa, Houston USA, Rotterdam The Netherlands and London United Kingdom. Currently expansion is planned to Djibouti and Equatorial Guinea.

Recently he returned to formal education and graduated with a degree in Law from the University of Lagos.

He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Financial Management Institute, the Nigerian Institute of Freight Forwarders, the Certified Institute of Shipping, the Nigerian Institute of Shipping and the Certified Board of Administrators of Nigeria.

Taiwo Afolabi is an Icon in maritime sector, and an industrial plutocrat of our time; one of the frontline advocates of the local content initiatives and indigenous participation in Nigeria shipping business who has continued to create jobs and opportunities for human wellbeing and sense of security. That was why he was conferred with a Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration by Cornerstone University and Theological Seminary, Jerusalem, Israel and USA.

Similarly, at the 8th Convocation Ceremony of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso which took place on Wednesday, 23rd April, 2008, he was conferred with the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Technology (Honoris Causa).

In addition, in recognition of his contribution to the growth and spread of Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in Western Ports Police Command Lagos, he was recently elected as the Grand Patron.

Chief Etete-Owoh received the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters on 1 July.

Chief Etete-Owoh was born into the family of the late Elder and Sister Sobere Etete in Asarama, Rivers State, in 1955. He is Andoni High Chief in the Royal Family of Asarama.

Educated at the Methodist School, Asarama, and Akpor Grammar School, Ozuoba, he proceeded to Rivers State University of Science and Technology (1983) and the University of Lagos, Akoka (1997) where he earned the BTech in Estate Management and a Master's degree in International Law and Diplomacy.

He began his working life as a Clerk with the Mercy Hospital, Abak, in 1977. He then enlisted with the Nigerian Police Force as a cadet and rose to the rank of Superintendent of Police before retiring in 1992. Thereafter he was engaged as Real Estate Supervisor by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (1992), Service Centre Manager (1994) and finally advanced to Regional Manager for Temporal Affairs for the Church in 1996, in which capacity he had responsibility for all West African countries.

In 2006 he retired from his Church position in order to take up the post of Executive Chairman of the Rivers State Local Government Service Commission, a post that he currently occupies.

He has served the community as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Rivers State Transport Company (2000-04) and was Member of the Advisory Council to the Rivers State Governor on Prerogative of Mercy (2000-08). At present he serves as Chairman of the Forum of Chairmen of Local Government Service Commissions in Nigeria. He is also Chief Patron of Conflict Resolution Initiative, Rivers State Branch, Co-Grand Patron of the National Union of Andoni Students and Patron of the Strategic Finance and Administrative Institute.

He has received awards including: Award of Excellence for Distinguished Political, Legal and Government Affairs from the Port Harcourt Metropolitan Chapter of Junior Chamber International; Merit Award for Staff Development and Welfare in the Unified Local Government Service in Rivers State by the National Association of Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria; Distinguished Professional Nobility Award of the Institute of Corporate Administration; Distinguished Alumni Association of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, 2008; Meritorious Award of Excellence 2008 by the Rotary Club of Ikenegbu, Owerri and Distinguished Member of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers. He was the best performing Local Government Service Commission Chairman in 2008 according to the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Data Processing Management of Nigeria, the Certified Institute of Management, the Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria and the Strategic Finance and Administrative Institute.

In 2002 he was appointed a Justice of the Peace.

Kabiru Muhammad Kofa was born in 1964 in Kofa, Kano State. He is married with children.

He was educated at the Govt. Secondary School Sumaila before proceeding to the Aminu School of Islamic Legal Studies, Bayero University, Federal College of Education Kano, the Khartoum International Institute of Arabic Language (Sudan) and the University of the Holy Qur'an and Islamic Sciences (Sudan). He holds a Diploma in Shari'a and Civil Law, a Bachelor of Arts in Arabic/Islamic Studies, a Post Graduate Diploma in Education, a Master of Arts in Education (teaching Arabic to non-Arabic speakers) and a Master of Arts in Hadith and its Sciences.

From 1985-93 he was a classroom teacher at the Islamiyya School, and from 1993-95 AG-Storekeeper at Aminu School of Islamic Legal Studies. Continuing at ASILS (now AKCILS) he was appointed Examination Co-Co-ordinator in the Shari'a Department in 1993 and Examination Officer in 1999. He became Deputy Chief Exam Officer in 2000 and Co-Co-ordinator of Commercial Services in 2002. The same year he was advanced to Head of the Department of Islamic Studies. His Lordship Justice Olorunfemi received the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters on 1 July.

Sulaiman Abubakar Olorunfemi was born in 1947 at Iyara Ijumu in Kogi State. He is married with eight children.

He was educated at the Arabic Institute of Nigeria, Ibadan, the Institute of Secondary Education, Medinah, Saudi Arabia, and the Islamic University of Medinah (Faculty of Shariah), Medinah, Saudi Arabia. From the latter he earned the Bachelor of Laws in Shariah in 1978. He prepared theses "Guide to the Hadith" in 1976 and "Yusuf the Prophet as prescribed by the Qu'ran" in 1978.

He served in the National Youth Service Corps at the Advanced Teachers' College, Kano, the School of Arabic Studies, Kano, and then as a temporary employee of the School of Arabic Studies, Kano, all between 1979 and 1981. In this latter year he was formally appointed to the Idofian Grammar School as a class teacher, and only one year later became Chief Education Officer at the Iyara Muslim College, where he remained until 1988.

In 1988, he received his first appointment as a judicial officer as Qadi, Kwara State Sharia Court of Appeal, Ilorin. In 1991 he took up an equivalent position at the Kogi State Sharia Court of Appeal, which he held until 2006. In that year he was appointed Grand Qadi of this court.

He is Chairman of the Board of Governors of Iyara Muslim College, a member of the National Association of Teachers of Arabic and Islamic Studies, a member of the Board of Education (KGSMC), Chairman, Kogi State Qu'ranic Recitation Competition, Patron, Unity of Islam, and Patron, Muslim Corpers' Association of Nigeria.

He has attended many legal courses and seminars at the Supreme Court, Lagos, University of Lagos, and many others, including attendance at the All-Nigeria Judges' Conference on several occasions. In 2005 he met with legislators and Grand Qadis of the nineteen northern States to advocate for accelerating the passage of the Child Rights Acts, and presented four significant papers on these matters.

He has accepted national assignments such as the Local Government Election Petitions Tribunal at Delta State (1999); Gubernatorial/State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal at Ebonyi State (1999); Member, Kogi State Elections Petitions Tribunal sitting at the High Court of Justice, Lokoja (2000 to date); Member, Election Petitions Tribunal, sitting at Kano State (2003) and Member, Election Petitions Tribunal, sitting at Owerri, Imo State (2007-08).

Professor Ilesanmi received the honorary degree of Doctor of Science on 1 July.

Professor Abiodun Ilesanmi is Chief Medical Director of the University College Hospital, Ibadan.

He attended Birch Freeman High School and CMS Grammar School, Lagos, before earning the MB/BS degree from the University of Benin in 1978. He has since obtained specialist and sub-specialist qualifications from universities within and outside Nigeria and is an alumnus of more than nine such institutions in respect of management and administration training. These include Harvard University, the University of Manchester, etc.

Professor Ilesanmi earned his MBA from the University of Ibadan in 1989. He was appointed Professor in 1997, and advanced to Secretary of the National Postgraduate Medical College in 1999. In 2000 he was appointed Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He has served on various committees of the University of Ibadan Senate, University College Hospital and the National Postgraduate College of Nigeria. He has over 60 publications in the fields of medicine, social science and economics. In 2003 President Olusegun Obasanjo appointed him Chief Medical Director of University College Hospital.

He has received awards and recognitions from over 50 bodies and is cited in various Who's Who publications. In community leadership, Professor Ilesanmi is the Osi Balogun Baasegun of Ibadanland and the Otunba of Isotun in Ijesaland. He has been a Justice of the Peace in Oyo State since 1990. After education at Okrika Grammar School and one year working as a Medical Laboratory Technician in the Pathology Department of the Federal Ministry of Health, Lagos (1957-58) he proceeded to the Nigerian College of Arts, Science and Technology, Ibadan (1958-60) where he completed his A levels. At the University of Ife he completed the Diploma in Pharmacy and Diploma of the Pharmacists' Board of Nigeria (Ph.C.). In 1964 he was admitted a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, and for two years worked as Hospital Pharmacist at the General Hospital Lagos, Chest Clinic Lagos, and Lagos Island Maternity Hospital. In 1967 he completed his Bachelor of Pharmacy with Honours at the University of Ife.

In 1961 he had a period of teaching at the Muslim College Ijebu Ode and Mayflower Secondary School Ikenne and in 1967 again taught at the Department of Pharmacy at the University of Ife Ile-Ife. That same year he moved to the United Kingdom and worked for three months as a Manufacturing and Dispensing Pharmacist at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington, London. Returning to Lagos, he worked as a Pharmacist at Gbaja Street Health Centre, Surulere, and as a Production Pharmacist at the Federal Drugs Manufacturing Laboratory in Yaba. From January 1968 he was Federal Government Pharmaceutical Inspector and Acting Superintendent Pharmacist in charge of the Federal Pharamaceutical Inspectorate Lagos. From March to April 1968 he attended the World Health Organization Fellowship course on Quality Control of Drugs at Copenhagen, Denmark. From 1969 to date he has been Managing Director and Superintendent Pharmacist in charge of Niger Bay Pharmacy Ltd. in Port Harcourt.

He has presented papers on pharmaceutical issues in Nigeria in 1969 and 1972.

Eradiri Sir Gabriel Lambert is a member of the Institute of Pharmacy Management, London, the International Pharmacy Federation, the Society of Health Nigeria (Life Member). He is a Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society Nigeria.

His professional service includes Secretary of the Pharmaceutical Law Review Committee, Lagos (1965-66), National Secretary of the Nigerian Union of Pharmacists (1967-77), PSN Representative at the Federal Government Pharmacist Board of Nigeria (1972-74) and First National Deputy President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (1994-97).

In community service, he has been Member of the Yenagoa Divisional Schools Management Committee; Board Member, Rivers State Housing Corporation (1975-79), Chairman of the Government Projects Implementation Committee (1980) and Director of Rivers State Scholarship Directorate (1981).

Eradiri Sir Gabriel Lambert won scholarships and awards throughout his educational career, culminating in the Federal Government Scholarship on merit for Pharmacy from the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Rivers State Chapter. He has been awarded the Merit Award by the Pharmaceutical Association of Nigeria Students (National) for distinguished contributions to Pharmacy (1995). He received the Merit Award from the University of Nigeria Nsukka Chapter of the Pharmaceutical Association of Nigeria Students (1997); the Ogbonbiri Gold Star Royal Award from the Amananaowei-In-Council of Agudama in Bayelsa State (1998); Certificate of Honour for meritorious service and distinctive contributions to socio-economic development of Mbgundunkwu Community in the Nkpolu Ogbuim-Nu-Abali Rebisi Diobu Port Harcourt (1999); Government of Bayelsa State Award for meritorious services, sense of duty and integrity to the creation, growth, sustenance and development of Bayelsa State (2001); 40th Anniversary Special Alumni Merit Award from Obafemi Awolowo University Alumni Association (2003).

Ibrahim Sayyadi was born in 1955 in Katsina, and is married with nine children. After completing his secondary education he attended the College of Arts, Science and Technology, Zaria, and earned a BSc (Hons) in Architecture. His graduate studies were at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he earned an MSc degree in Architecture in 1981.

From 1982, Mr Sayyadi was in practice as an architect, initially with Bestarc International Associates (1982-84) and then as Senior Architect, later Assistant Chief Architect at the Ministry of Education, Kaduna State (1984-87). Moving to the Ministry of Education, Katsina State, he was Assistant Chief Architect from 1987 to 1989. He then held posts as Chief Architect and Assistant Director Building at the Ministry of Works and Housing (1989-90), and returned to the Ministry of Education as Assistant Director (Works) (1991-92).

In 1992 he was appointed General Manager at the Katsina State Housing Authority and from 1997 held a substantive Directorship there. In January 2009 he was appointed Secretary to the Katsina State Government, serving in the Governor's Office there.

HRH Malam Gambo Makama was born in 1961 at Tsauni Kulere in Kaduna State and is married with children. He attended the Midland Commercial College, Jos, the Kagoro Teachers' College, Kagoro, Kaduna Polytechnic and the Federal Polytechnic Kaura-Namoda (where he studied accounting). He has also pursued short courses at the Centre for Research and Management Studies, Iokoja, the National Centre for Economic Management and Administration, Ibadan, and the University of Ibadan.

Beginning his career as a Financial Assistant at the Accounts Dept., Court of Appeal, Kaduna Division, he became Senior Finance Assistant in the Accounts Dept. Salaries Unit of the Court of Appeal, Jos Division, and there was also Acting Budget Officer. In 1999 he was Senior Executive Officer of the Account Department and Head of Central Pay Officer at the Court of Appeal Headquarters at Abujua.

He held these posts until 2003 when he was appointed the Chief of Numana Chiefdom in Sanga Local Government Area, Gwantu, in Kaduna State.

Mr. Sonnie Ayere has amassed c.17 years of solid corporate and structured finance plus corporate banking and asset management experience working with HSBC London, NatWest Bank, The Sumitomo Mitsui Bank, Bank of Montreal - Nesbitt Burns, all in London; the International Finance Corporation (The World Bank Group) based in Washington D.C. and Johannesburg, South Africa and currently the UBA Group. In the early years, Mr. Ayere worked in corporate banking at NatWest Bank, and subsequently corporate finance in media & telecommunications financing including real estate finance, with The Sumitomo Mitsui Bank.

He then began his structured finance career in 1997 when he joined the structured finance/securitization team of Sumitomo Mitsui Bank, London. He was part of the team that structured the first ever Japanese de-linked Balance Sheet Collaterised Loan Obligation securisation - GBP1.4bn Aurora Funding. He was also responsible for managing the bank's fixed income portfolio in Asset Backed Securities (ABS) and Mortgage Backed Securities (MBS) investments and other asset classes for the bank's own balance sheet. Following this, he joined BMO-Nesbitt Burns London (the investment banking arm of the Bank of Montreal) in 1998 as part of the team responsible for setting up a US$20bn Fixed Income Structured Investment Vehicle (SIV), with a US$2bn Capital Note Program which launched in 1999. He was involved in the company's set up, compiling aspects of its procedures manual, system evaluation and testing and subsequently responsible for analyzing, investing/trading in various ABS/MBS and other asset classes, e.g. bank senior and subordinated debt and other corporate debt plus the on-going credit monitoring of the portfolio. In 2001, he joined the Global Structured Finance Group of the International Finance Corporation (The World Bank Group) in Washington D.C. where he was responsible for originating structured finance and securitization transactions globally. Notable transactions include IFC's role as structuring investor in South Africa Home Loan's first Residential Mortgage Backed Securitisarion of ZAR 1bn and structuring securities backed by Contracts-to-sale in the Philippines.

Mr. Ayere assumed the role of Structured Finance Specialist for Sub-Saharan Africa in July 2002 and to 2005 was responsible for developing structured finance and securitization transactions in addition to developing debt capital markets and instruments for the bank and its clients across the continent. He pioneered IFC's interest in developing the Nigerian bond market and was a principal adviser to the Nigerian Debt Management Office on the development of the market. The market has been very successful, having launched a liquid primary dealer system that has supported the repayments of pension arrears, contractor arrears and infrastructure developments for the country.

In September 2004, he also became co-head/sector lead for financial markets business development for Sub¬Saharan Africa. Here, he was responsible for generating financial market investments across the region to include US$ lines of credit to new and existing IFC relationship banks. Notable transactions include IFC's equity investment in UBA Group.

Mr. Sonnie Ayere joined USA Group as the pioneer Managing Director/CEO of VBA Global Markets, the investment banking arm of the group, in August 2005. Key innovative transactions such as the N100 billion Residential Mortgage Backed Securitisation for Federal Mortgage Bank, NNPC sponsored US$350m Multi-Seller Notes Issuance Program and the Nl0 billion future flow securitisation program for Food Concepts limited, the N20bn Zero Coupon Puttable Bond for Tinapa Limited were led and structured by Mr. Ayere and his team.

Mr. Ayere is an individual member of the Nigerian Bond Steering Committee. Mr. Ayere is also the Vice Chairman of the Association of Issuing Houses of Nigeria, Member of the Steering Committee for the review of the Foreclosure and Securitization Law of Nigeria, Chairman of the Committee to set up Qualified Institutional Buyers procedures and regulation to the Securities & Exchange Commission, and member
of the FSS2020 Steering Committee. He is also an adviser to the Governor of Lagos State, Gov. Babatunde Raji-Fashola (SAN).

1. Dr. Michael Nwaubani

Dr. Nwaubani is Regional Co-ordinator for EAU's programs in Eastern Nigeria.

Dr. Michael Onyekachi Aguziendu Nwaubani (Ph.D), was born as the last child of Elder and Mrs Comfort Aguziendu Nwaubani (of blessed memories) of Amachara, Ezeleke, Umuopara in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State. He started his academic pursuit at the primary level at Ezeleke Primary School and completed at S D A Primary School, Umuoriehi. While at the post-primary, he sat and passed the London General Certificate of Education in 1974. After a short period of Teaching as an auxiliary Teacher, he later attended Teacher Training College Uzuakoli in Bende L.G.A of Abia State.

On completion at TTC Uzuakoli, he taught briefly at Government College Umuahia, Umuopara Secondary School and Ofeme Technical Secondary School all in Abia State as a pivotal Teacher.

In 1982, he proceeded to India for further studies and was admitted at Panjab University Chandigarh where he bagged a Bachelors of Commerce Degree (B.Com.) in 1986. Institute of Personnel Management and Industrial Relations for a PGD in Business Management & Industrial Administration (PGDBMIA) in 1987. Prince Nathy Chidi Nwaneri (JP), the Proprietor of Queen's Science School and the Chairman of Private Schools in Suleja is a Physicist and Educationist.

I am widely known as reliable Education Consultant, Administrator and philanthropist, also known as father of children as people call me.

I was born in November 26 1964, in Ihiagwa, Owerri West L.G. of Imo State. I had my Primary Education at St. Charles Primary School Nkalagu Enugu State in 1972 and attended St. Patrick Secondary School Emene Enugu State in 1977, (Missionary School) St Cyprian's College Nsukka in 1980, and later studied Physics at University of Nigeria Nsukka, then proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and obtained B.Ed. in Physics Education in 1997, my NYSC was in Kano in 1988.

In November 1988 I proceeded to Faraday Institute of Technology Chicago U.S.A and obtained a Post Graduate Advanced Diploma in General Physics. I came back and was employed as Quality Control Manager with Gaskiya Textile Company before I established my Science School through the help of Naihnai Directorate of Employment (NDE) and since the establishment I have employed over 200 workers both teaching and non teaching staff, about 12 M.Ed. holders, 72 degree holders, 80 N.C.E and Others. I also employ about 15 NYSC Corps members with accommodation yearly.

We have many students and pupils in the school under 20 years of establishment through the help of National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and blessing from God. Our school is helping the Government in reducing unemployment as the State and Federal Government are trying a lot and cannot do everything for her citizen so we as an individual should endeavor to help the Government.

In. 2008 I obtained Masters Degree at Nassarawa State University Keffi.

Some of my Achievements:
1) I was employed by Enugu State Ministry of Education as a Mathematics and Physics Teacher in 1982 after my Training as a teacher.
2) I taught Mathematics and Physics at Buchi Science Secondary School Kano in 1988 during my NYSC.
3) I worked in the Presidency on special appointment as personal Assistant to the former Minister of Special Duties Dr. Laz Unogu.
4) I gave about 60 students who came from less privileged homes scholarship in my school irrespective of Religion or State where they came from because I believe on One Nigeria.
5) I was among the first Nigerians who established Science Education in Primary School Stage/jet age in 1990, because when I started my school the Ministry-of Education refused to approve it for me that they have not heard of Science in Primary Stage before, until I convinced them with several Primary practical and experiments before they allowed me to continue and later approved it for me. I am happy because today, we have many Science Primary Schools in the Country and we have Science Quiz, Debate in Primary Stage.
6) I was the first person to introduce Nursery and Primary Graduation Ceremony in Abuja and Niger State. (Please you can find out from Radio Nigeria Abuja and other proprietors around me.)
7) I built a long Bridge leading to my Town people's Farmland where they bring food for the Nation, in Owerri West Imo State (Otamiri River in Ihiagwa Village) and they gave me Chieftaincy Title and I was given an award as an illustrious son of my Town and Imo State.
8) I helped in building the churches financially both in Suleja here and at my home Town Anglican Church and Christian Youth gave me an award and Anglican Church gave me award as a Knight in Anglican. And I have award as Ambassador of Federal Republic of Israel.
9) I am the Patron and Adviser of many organizations such as Eastern University/Polytechnic Students Association in the Northern Nigeria. (The President is in Nassarawa State University) also adviser of Igbo Union Association in Suleja - Abuja.

CITATION OF DR. EMMANUEL IKPENGWA
Dr. Emmanuel Ikpengwa is one man whose name rings a bell in labour circles within Nigeria. Over the years, this man who is Second Term National President of the Construction and Civil Engineering Senior Staff Association has carved a niche for himself as an advocate of the rights and interests of workers. It is a salute to his commitment to workers that he was at a time the 2nd Deputy President General of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) 2003-2007, which is the umbrella body for all Senior Staff Associations in Nigeria.

Dr. Emmanuel Ikpengwa was born in 1954 into the family of Late Mr. & Mrs. Chinkata Ikpengwa in Abayi village, Ugwunagbo Local Government area of Abia State. He had his primary education at Abayi and Port Harcourt. After completing his early education, he was enrolled into Ngwa High School, Aba where he obtained his West African Examination Council, School Certificate with excellent grades.

However, his dream of progressing into higher institution of learning was temporarily interrupted by the sudden death of his parents, which occurred in quick succession soon after completing his secondary education. The incidence in no small means plunged the young activist into a terrible state of neglect and the only choice available was to join his uncles. Living with uncles was not the best experience for Emmanuel. For one, he could not have access to the good things of life. Significantly, his uncles still had to take care of their own children and personal problems. It became extremely difficult for him to achieve his dreams. When it became apparent that surviving in the East would be difficult, he decided to move to the West where there was a better prospect of employment.

Few days after he arrived Ibadan, his expectation came to reality. He was engaged by the Institute of Agricultural Research, Ibadan as a laboratory technician. Even when he was earning a living from the institute, Emmanuel knew that nothing short of a university certificate would be good enough. After working for a few years he decided to enroll in the University of Lagos for a Diploma in Computer Programming. Those who knew him during that programme testify to his unique intelligence and leadership qualities.

Upon completing the programme, he was employed by NCR West Africa and by coincidence, he was sent to Dumez Construction Co. Ltd to install their computer systems. His professional competence got the attention of the Financial Director of Dumez during that assignment. The Director was so impressed that he had to personaly negotiated his release from NCR to Dumez. He was initially very skeptical about working with a construction company but the Managing Director, Engr. A. Kamel ensured that he never regretted any moment he spent at Dumez.

As a unionist, Dr. Ikpengwa has achieved even greater feats. For instance, as Secretary of the Dumez Chapter of the Construction & Civil Engineering Senior Staff Association in 1995, he was able to mobilize the staff to press for improved internal conditions of service for workers in 1996, he became the Union Chairman of the Construction & Civil Engineering Senior Staff Association (Dumez Branch). He recorded laudable achievements by encouraging the management of Dumez to increase the monthly package of workers by over 500%.

Consequently upon his achievement as Secretary, and later as Chairman of Dumez House Unit, he retained his position as an NJIC member for 10 years, a feat unrivalled till date. His relentless contributions at the NJIC did not go unrewarded. He bagged an NJIC Merit Award in 1999.

Comrade (Dr.) Ikpengwa was elected National President of Construction & Civil Engineering Senior Staff Association on November 1, 2002 and re-elected for the 2nd term in April, 7th 2006 and since then, he has not left any stone unturned in ensuring equity and justice in the welfare of workers in the Construction & Civil Engineering sector.

He was on the Board of National Productivity Centre, Abuja, representing labour 2005-2007.

Comrade (Dr.) Emma Ikpengwa is also a 2005 recipient of Development in Nigeria Merit Award on the sphere of labour unionism from PRS, Lagos.

BRIEF BACKGROUND OF WORKING EXPERIENCE:
As a Draughtsman from 1980 in Dorman Long and Amalgamated Engineering Company Ltd Nigeria, up to 1996 when the Company transferred me to their Subsidiary Company of Dorman Engineering Ltd, East Greenwich, SE 10, England, I was rated as the most dedicated Employee in Dorman Long and Amalgamated Engineering Company Ltd. This was why I was given an Employment Transfer/Scholarship to England to further my Education.

As a Draughtsman in Dorman Long Engineering East Greenwich SE 10 London, England, I was rated one of the best two Draughtsmen the Company had then. I and one of other Staff; Harry Crowley, were assigned to the drafting of all Structural Steelwork drawings associated with the London Bridge Reconstruction in London, England. (1967-1970).

As a Graduate Engineer working in the offices of Messrs Cornelius Salmon and Partners, Consulting Engineers, Victoria House, Victoria Street, London, England, I was the only black person who was deployed to the Partnership for Engineering training and development. I worked on major projects as a squad Deputy during this period (1970-1973).

As a Sales Design Engineer in Nigeria again employed by Dorman Long and Amalgamated Engineering Company Ltd, (1973 - 1975), I was the only Expatriate black person employed under contract and recruited from England after the Nigerian Civil War, to assist the Company strengthen its operations in Nigeria. I resigned after the
eighteen months contract duration, to set up in 1975, Ebilah-Salmon and
Partners (a Partnership that is incorporated by a Nigerian and a British; Cornelius Salmon). This Partnership has served both the Private and Public Sectors of the developmental Economy of Nigeria in the areas of Civil, Structural, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. - I single handedly brought electricity to Umudike, Oboro, Ikwuano, L.G.A, Abia State. (1975) Population 7,500.
- The Rural Electricity Project embarked by me in 1975 is today the Blazing trail of the Rural Electrification of 90% of the Rural Communities of Ikwuano L.G.A., Abia State.
- I single handedly caused the Federal Ministry of Power and Steel to approve and award the Contract to supply electricity to the Communities of Amuro-Ukpom-Aro Okporoenyi-Nkalunta. This project is on going and will in due course be accomplished as a Rural Electrification Project sponsored by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
I single handedly tarred a Road in Enugu State (1.5km) leading from Agbani Road to Idaw River Layout, off Ekwueme Street. This Road was later named by the Enugu Local Government as "Chief Emeka Ebilah Avenue" Idaw River Layout. The Anambra State Government had not then been broken into 2 States (1987).
- I single handedly brought Electricity and Telephone Services to the Idaw River Layout Areas of Enugu State and maintained total security along the environs of Idaw River Layout in Enugu, Enugu State.
- I single handedly sank a 9" diameter Borehole (600 feet) with the Central Storage; Braithwaite System. This System had 5 Stand Points in the Village of Umudike, Oboro, Ikwuano L.G.A., Abia State in 1988. The System was supported with a 27 KVA Generator to constantly supply Power to the system. Navy Captain Oguguo of Imo State in 1989 commissioned the Water Project.

Monitor reports to the Federal Government on quarterly basis, the inflationary rate, the consumer price index and such other growth indices on output, liquidity and cost of funds, transportation costs, fuel prices and other related tariffs;
- Recommend any increase or decrease of price on manufactured goods.
- Monitor the supply and demand of Forex, the gap and factors affecting markets sales and indicated rates, use of Forex and operation of the market.
- Consider any issue appropriate and relevant to the subject of revenue collection;
- Give a situation report of all its activities on quarterly basis to the Federal Government.
- Ensure that any defaulter of any of the issues mentioned above or any other matter related thereto is brought before the Special Tribunal established under the Law and;
- Consider such other matters as may be referred to it from time to time, by the Head of State, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

NGO PROGRAMME
1. This resourceful lady does not believe in fending for herself and family alone, but in aiding others to grow and achieve greater heights. She had and is still actively involved in the empowerment of both the youths and aged of the various sexes. She is, in her own humble way, amplifying the qualities expected of a leader.
2. She leads by example, having been involved from youth to lend helping hands to the less privileged, in providing clean, conducive and healthy environment for all to enjoy.
3. She had been privileged to accord her epidemiological knowledge to some local Government and its functionaries in the past. (e.g. in the beatification of open spaces, parks playground and in tree-planting). As of today, she is still actively involved in lending her epidemiological and environmental health hazard knowledge for the promotion of cleanliness, improvement of the already existing Environmental hazard within the community and at various factories/industries within Lagos state.
4. Her organization had been known to give succor/food, clothing, drinks and money to the old peoples home Yaba, some orphanages within Lagos state just to mention a few.
5. As a cosmetologist, she founded and was elected the first president of LAHBCA (Lagos State Hair Dressing, Barbing and Cosmetological Association). During her tenure, she was able to bridge the gap between cosmetological manufacturers and End-users in the correct application of the various products thus reducing the imminent occurrence of health hazards. She went about executing enlightenment (and also through demonstrations) among the populace in the correct application of the respective cosmetic products. Furthermore, she also established Basic Skill Acquisition and training programmes both in Cosmetology, Barbing and Hair dressing respectively to individuals with a view that each graduate will take it up as their career.
6. She trained children of SOS village at Isolo, during the tenure of Rev. Adetola and personally catered for the upkeep of some motherless babies until adopted. Most of her graduates are self-sustained useful citizens in the society today.
7. She had and is still engaged in sponsoring some less privileged students in the society at all levels of training including Tertiary institution in furthering their respective educational goals irrespective of gender and tribe thereby helping in reducing the social menace these would have infiltrated into the society. Her organization had sponsored various youth sporting activities at some Local Government (LGAS) and had even hosted reception for National Teams where the Nation excels.
8. All these she had solely executed gratuitously within the limits of her resources.
9. As a consultant to some Multilateral, Multinational and International Companies, she has helped to empower both the young and old in obtaining gainful employment into the respective companies.
10. Chief Dr. (Mrs.) Moji Afolabi having been closely knitted with the less- privileged over the years thoroughly understands the problems within the society, the limitations of the Government and the Minimum sustenance requirement invaluable to each individual. She is not only a socialite, but also compassionate, trustworthy, hardworking and loyal to worthy causes. She also belongs to a good number of International and Local societies and clubs. Alhaji Ibrahim Garba is the pioneer commissioner of Projects Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate, Kano State. He was horn in 1956 at Alfindiki in the present Kano Municipal local government area of Kano State.

As is still the tradition in northern Nigeria, the young Ibrahim Garba was enrolled in a Qur'anic school at a very early age so as to acquire Islamic education. He later attended Masaka Primary School, Kano where he obtained the school leaving certificate. He then enrolled into Gwale Secondary School where he acquired the West African Examination Council Certificate later proceeding to Mohawk College, Canada, for higher education.

Alhaji Ibrahim Garba has served in various ministries as Hon. Commissioner since 2003. He was a commissioner at the state Ministry of Land and Physical Planning. During his tenure, he regularized the issuance of certificates of occupancy within a month, which used to take years.

Also during his commissionership at the Ministry of Land, banks were approached to intensify the collection of revenue on behalf of the ministry as a result of which the highest amount of revenue was recorded due to this initiative. He was also instrumental in the setting up of the geographical information system in Kano State.

Alhaji Ibrahim Garba was also appointed the commissioner of the state Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources where he facilitated the establishment of Farmers' Groups for easy distribution of farm inputs thereby eliminating racketeering.

He improved the fertilizer distribution system and initiated the payment of money for fertilizer through banks which ensured that the money collected was remitted to the state treasury. He also resuscitated the Bagauca Fish Farms and the Farm Center Workshop which were dormant for many decades, among other numerous sterling and indelible legacies.

When he became the commissioner of information, all the three state-owned media houses were renovated and provided with the state-of-the-art modern equipment. He also instituted the monthly award for the best staff members of the ministry and its parastatals as a way of rewarding excellence thereby serving as a motivation to the staff to give of their best.

Also within his short tenure at the ministry, all the directors were given laptops to enhance their productivity in addition to the provision of a new standby generating set at the headquarters.

He spearheaded the gubernatorial campaign train for the second tenure of His Excellency, the Governor of Kano State which resulted in the jinx-breaking success of Malam Ibrahim Shekarau in the 2007 polls.

At present, he is the Hon. Commissioner of projects monitoring and evaluation. One of his enduring legacies is his involvement of private individuals and corporate bodies to rehabilitate the ailing education sector facing myriad of problems.

The public and private sector partnership has been a huge success as more than N500 million was spent by wealthy individuals and corporate bodies mostly banks on the renovation of public schools, construction of classrooms and other facilities as well as provision of furniture, computers and portable generating sets to all female boarding schools for conducive nocturnal academic pursuits.

Alhaji Ibrahim Garba regularly embarks on inspection visits to projects sites to ensure their proper execution and timely completion. It is to his credit that there no abandoned projects undertaken by the state government as all projects are either completed or on-going.
He ensures that contractors are promptly paid for their work or services through timely vetting of their interim certificates which made them happy and grateful for the setting up of the directorate unlike before when they were made to suffer due to unnecessary bureaucratic bottlenecks.

In his private life, Hon. Ibrahim Garba is into business and farming. His contributions and achievements both as a public office holder and a private entrepreneur has endeared him to many including the state governor, Malam (Dr.) Ibrahim Shekarau who sees him as a worthy, dependable and honest ally.

Alhaji Ibrahim Garba is happily married and blessed with three children.

Surv. Awudu received the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters on 15 June.

Surv. Ebisintei Bietoru Awudu, mni, was born on 25th June 1961 at Lobia in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. He had his Primary education at Central School Ikang and thereafter moved to Government Secondary School Ukubie in present day Bayelsa State and obtained the West African Schools Certificate with Division One in 1980.

At the completion of his Secondary Education, he proceeded to the Rivers State University of Science and Technology where he bagged a Bachelor of Technology degree in Land Surveying in 1986. He also has a Masters degree in Public Administration from Imo State University.

Surv. Ebisintei B. Awudu, mni, became a Registered Surveyor in 1991 and was a Consultant Surveyor in Offshore and Satellite (GPS) Surveys until his appointment into the Bayelsa State Civil Service. He has wide Technical and Professional experience and has been involved in Surveying, Mapping and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Practices in the Construction, Oil and Gas Sectors as well as in the Public Sector. He has also been involved in various projects in the Oil and Gas Sector ranging from Nigeria LNG Limited, New Port-Harcourt Refinery, Ofon and Monipulo Offshore Oilfields, Bonny Export Terminal Project, Bonny Sea Island Export Terminal, Escravos - Lagos Gas Pipeline Extension Survey, Enyong Creek Swamp Rice Project and Bayelsa State Airport Survey amongst others.

He was undergoing a M.Phil/Ph.D program in Environmental Management in the same University in 1998 but the Programme was suspended when he was appointed the Surveyor-General, Bayelsa State in July 1998. Surv. Ebisintei B. Awudu, mni, is the Pioneer Surveyor-General of Bayelsa State and also the first Surveyor-General/Permanent Secretary of a State in Nigeria.

In 2004, he attended the Senior Executive Course (SEC) No.26 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) and was elected the Deputy Monitor-General of the course.

He is a member of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS) and an Examiner of the Surveyors' Council of Nigeria (SURCON) since 2002. He is also a member of various Professional Associations such as Geo-information Society of Nigeria (GSN) and African Association of Remote Sensing of the Environment (AARSE).

The Surveyor-General/Permanent Secretary has earned for himself several Awards due to his hard work and dedication to duty. EAU Alcott CER absorbs the work of Marquess Educational Consultants

As of 20 June, the Alcott Center for Educational Research at EAU has taken over the work formerly undertaken by Marquess Educational Consultants.

Founded by John Kersey, President of EAU, in 2005, MEC is a specialist evaluator of the equivalency of foreign educational credentials for use in employment, further education and in legal processes. Over one thousand expert opinions have been prepared for use by law firms in proceedings before the United States Government.

The absorption of this work within EAU is part of a planned restructuring that is expected to offer several benefits to clients.

Death of President Omar Bongo of Gabon

EAU Convocation in Lagos, Nigeria - July 2009

In response to EAU's initiative to honour a number of Nigeria's most prominent leaders of today, a special convocation will be held in Lagos on Saturday 11 July at 10am. The purpose of this convocation is to focus specifically on recipients of honorary degrees in Nigeria. A separate convocation for graduates of earned programs will take place at a later date.

The convocation will be hosted at the University of Lagos by kind permission of the University, and will be co-ordinated and led by Professor Williams A.O. Egbuta, EAU Hon. Co-ordinator for West Africa and his staff. Leaders from all sections of Nigeria's community will be present to celebrate achievement and unite under a common bond of humanitarian endeavor.

2. Dr. Joseph Adebajo Kunle.

Dr. Kunle was between 1997-2008 Senior Lecturer at the Church Growth Institute, Shomolu, Lagos. He was previously lecturer and registrar at the Nigeria Bible Academy, Akoka, Lagos, and Head Master of the Modern Day School, Shipeolu, Lagos. Currently, he serves as Academic Director/Coordinator for EAU's West Africa program in addition to occupying a similar role for the British Society of Commerce in Nigeria. He maintains a senior lectureship at the Centre for Leadership and Development, Lagos.

He holds a PhD in Church Administration from Evangel Christian University and an MBA from the University of Calabar among other degrees and is a Fellow of numerous professional societies.

3. Dr. Nuhu Swedor.

Dr. Swedor studied at the Technical University of Berlin and Freie University of Berlin between 1972-80. Since 2007 he has been Senior Lecturer in Economics at the Lagos School of Economics following a career in business and management training. Mr Arab received the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters on 15 April, recognizing in particular his contributions to the growth and development of democracy in Nigeria.

Alhaji Nasiru Ibrahim Arab is Clerk of the National Assembly in Nigeria. He was born in 1950 in Kaduna State and educated at the College of Arts and Arabic Studies, Sokoto, Advanced Teachers' College, Kano, Bayero University and the University of Ibadan. He has also studied abroad at the Bureau of Parliamentary Studies, New Delhi, India, and the University of Surrey, UK. He holds the degree of Bachelor of Arts in Education and is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Development Administration and Honorary Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management.

A former high school acting principal, Mr Arab became Principal Education Officer at the Zonal Education Office, Kaduna, in 1981 and was Public Relations Officer for the Ministry of Education, Kaduna State, between 1984 and 1986. Appointments then followed as Kaduna State Commissioner of Social Development, Work and Culture (1986), Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Information and Home Affairs, Kaduna State (1987), Hon. Mohammed Jimoh Yinusa is Group Managing Director/CEO of Dunlop Nigeria Plc. He was educated at Ahmadu Bello University and the University of Ilorin and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and an MBA. He has pursued executive education at Templeton College, University of Oxford (UK), Cranfield Business School (UK), Harvard Business School (USA) and Lagos Business School.

Mr Yinusa has been extremely active in support for the business community in Nigeria, and serves as Board Member of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group since 2007. Ahonsi Simeon Ohiren grew up in a proper family setting where love, discipline, courtesy, positive esteem, security, respect for. parents and good etiquette were placed pivotal. He was born into the estimable family of Mr. & Mrs. Napoleon James Ahonsi of Afuze in Owan East Local Government Area, Edo State.

He started his formal education some decades ago, to be precise, sometime in 1977 at Odion Primary School, where he proceeded to our Lady of Fatima College, Auchi, Edo State in 1983.

Ahonsi Simeon Ohiren being a genius and a man endowed with great intelligence excelled academically with excellent outstanding grades in the field of Arts and Sciences. He therefore proceeded from Our Lady of Fatima College, Auchi to a higher institution, Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State, where he bagged a degree in Urban and Regional Planning sometime in 1999.

Sequel to the saying "knowledge is power" and "great achievers are good learners", Simeon Ahonsi Ohiren proceeded to the University of Ibadan sometime in 2008, where he currently has in view M.Sc. in Housing Development & Management.

Mr. Ahonsi Simeon Ohiren, is a dynamic leader with positive multilateral parts, extremely sound and vision driven. He is presently the President/CEO of several prestigious companies such as:

Mr. Solomon received the honorary degree of Doctor of Science on 15 March.

Mr. Solomon Akinjayeju is an expert in his chosen administration and security career, with 28 years of working experience in his combined professional career. Presently he is the Executive Director of Administration, Human Resources, Urban Services and Security Affairs in Nigerian-based mega-firm Kuramo Industries Nigeria Limited and Metro Group Limited.

Solomon Akinjayeju was born in 1958 into a devoted Christian family at the ancient town of Ondo, in Ondo state of Nigeria. His childhood great dream was to be a dynamic leader in service to humanity. In spirit of achieving this goal. he spent much of his childhood tough-life in self development by acquiring series of sound education, both at home and abroad. and carefully treaded on the path of godliness, like Joseph to reach his present level.

Mr. Solomon Akinjayeju attended his primary and secondary schools in Ondo town. He graduated with Degree in Public Administration from Ondo State University, Akungba, in Ondo state, and further obtained Post-Graduate Diploma in Financial Management from Olabisi Onabanjo University. Ago-Iwoye. Thereafter he diversified his academic and professional career into security studies, both at Nigeria Police Training School. and in domestic and foreign Professional Institutions, which made him an expert in administration of corporate and human security affairs. Currently, he is the chairman of Spy Police Stakeholders' Forum in Lagos state, and President-In-Council of Certified Institute of Public Administration and Management (CIPAM) and a member of International Association of Chief of Police(IACP).

Solomon Akinjayeju started his work career as a banker at the defunct National Bank of Nigeria Plc between 198I-1992,and rose to the position of maintenance officer before leaving for the N.B.M. bank (now Sterling bank) between 1992-2005, where he
rose to the management position of the administration and security manager.

He is a distinguished banker with 24 years of working experience. He is widely professed by his superiors. colleagues and subordinates to be goal achiever, pro-active administrator, reliable problem solver, dedicated servant-leader, broad minded corporate strategist and integrity built role model, among others. He has discharged series of security intelligence and corporate security management strategy training lectures and seminars throughout the states of the country (almost in all states in the country). His total commitment to social development is unequalled.

Mr. Solomon Akinjayeju has chaired series of committees, both at state, private, social and religious settings which have exhibited remarkable achievement and sustainable development, up-till-date. Moreover, he has severally and greatly contributed to welfare development of the needy, irrespective of the age, ethnic, and religion backgrounds. He has showered credible support to community development of his environment, both in kind and advisory support. He is presently a special adviser to the Nigerian Police on Spy Police Affairs.

As a strong believer in God and ministry of Christ, he enjoys reading of inspirational literatures, intellectual discussion and social works, travelling and tourism. He has a flair for problem solving, and continual self development.

EAU is pleased to announce that EAU alumnus Chief Peter Pan Agbanishi Okeze has been awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters. Chief Okeze earned his bachelor and master's degrees at EAU.

Chief Okeze is founder, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Pan Express Group Limited, Nigeria, and is an expert in the field of Air Freight Management. His company has become a leading force in aviation handling within Nigeria. A division of his company, Pan Express Services Limited, currently provides services in Aviation Consultancy, Airline Operations, Airline Handling, Ground Handling, Passengers Support Handling Services, Aircraft Equipment Leasing, Airport Concessionaire and Aviation Manpower Development, amongst other services.

From its beginnings in 1984, Chief Okeze's company has now become a major conglomerate with interests not only in Airline Operations and Aviation Support Services but also in Petroleum, Finance, Real Estate, the Hospitality Industry, Cargo Management Concessionaire and Manpower Development and Consultancy. It employs a workforce of over 250 with an expansion ratio of over 20% per annum.

Chief Okeze is the Kpakpando Ibusa of the Kpakpando Ibusa Kingdom, which holds the African Merit Award for Integrity, Accountability and Transparency in Leadership. Award of degrees to five bishops

EAU has awarded the degree of Doctor of Divinity jure dignitatis to five senior bishops.

The provision of the award of the degree of DD jure dignitatis is similar to an honorary degree in that it is made on the basis of work done and does not require residency or formal examination, although the degree is officially a full degree. All bishops who are in the Catholic apostolic succession are historically entitled to have this degree conferred upon them by petitioning a university or the Primate of their Church, although in most cases rather than formal conferral the degree is held to have been automatically bestowed in the course of the act of consecration. It is thus a degree of the Church Catholic herself.
